Kuta Beach
The popular Kuta Beach, overlooking the Straits of Bali, attracts foreign and local watersport enthusiasts and sun worshippers. You can also swim here--make sure you do so only within the designated area--or just join the carefree sunbathers. Wandering hawkers and guides offer their wares and services, while others provide a relaxing massage for a reasonable fee. The most famous stretch of beach inBali. First discovered in the 60's by surfers and hippies, today renowned for its magnificent sunsets, surf beach and action. Kuta happens night and day and offers the best selection of shopping, including street stalls, markets and local shops to entice bargain hunters.
As the size and fame of Kuta spread, the beach became popular with the residents of Denpasar. Indonesians from the large cities of Java came by the tour load. Dozens of art shops opened along the main streets. On the beach, girls and women carry bundles of sarongs and batiks on their heads, looking for customers. Young boys sell dance tickets, and young girls sell cold drinks. At sunset, the beach is a lively place, and the roads are full of cars and motorbikes. See Kuta Hotels
Legian Beach
Legian
Beach cannot be separated from Kuta Beach. It is located in between
of Kuta and Seminyak. Legian is considered as the busiest tourist
resort in Bali where more than hundred hotels accommodation, restaurants,
art shops are located. Budget hotels, to luxury hotels (Bali
Mandira, The Jayakarta Bali)
are available to accomodate various tourist preferences. Most visitors
prefer staying Legian and Kuta as it is also famous for its nightlife.
The beach extends from Canggu in the north and south to the airport
in Tuban. It is ideal for those who wish to combine a beach holiday
with testing their surfing skills. Legian is 15 minutes drive from
airport, 5 minutes drive to the center of Kuta and 20 minutes drive
to the city of Denpasar
Sanur Beach
Sanur is a modern and prosperous community, and host to many high class hotels and restaurants. But it is also famous for its sorcerers. When the Dutch invaded Bali in 1906, it was in Sanur that they landed. Essentially a sleepy fishing village, located to the east of Denpasar. Sanur is ideal for evening walks browsing through the many shops and markets without the frantic activity of Kuta. The sandy beach is sheltered from the surf by a coral reef creating a lazy lagoon which is ideal for children. Some of Sanur hotels are: the Gangsa, Parigata Hotel and La Taverna Hotel. See Sanur Hotels
Candi Dasa Beach
At the eastern end of Arnuk Bay, CANDI DASA is a centre for snorkeling and diving, and a pleasant base from which to explore the east of Bali, including the nearby traditional village of Tenganan. However, throughout the 1980s, Candi's offshore reef was crushed to produce lime for the building boom and the beach was left so exposed that it simply washed away. Large sea walls now protect the land, and jetties protrude into the sea in the hope, largely justified, that the beach will build up against them.
The tourist developments have spread 8km west around the bay, through the villages of Senkidu, Mendira, Buitan and Manggis (, where the beach is still a respectable size. Just off the coast of Candi Dasa, a group of small islands provides excellent spots for experienced divers (currents can be strong), including walls, a pinnacle and the dramatic Tepekong Canyon. Candi Dasa is also an ideal base from which to arrange diving trips to Padang Bai, Nusa Penida, Amed and Tulamben and to take a course.
Nusa Dua Beach
Crystal
clear water and stretches of white sandy beach of Nusa Dua makes
Nusa Dua a perfect spot for luxurious resorts to which your exhausted
bodies, after a Barong performance at Batubulan and a long climb
of the steps of the Mother Temple Besakih, will want to rest. Some
of the most sumptuous and luxurious hotels in the world find their
home in Nusa Dua Bali. You can relax in the Thalasso spa of the
Grand Mirage Resort after a day of surfing or diving. Or you can
tee off into the sunset, while watching the gentle waves come from
the blue sea and caress the banks surrounding the luscious greens.
Tranquil swimming pools under the coconut trees seem to be one with
the distant blue sea. Art galleries and numerous shops surround
them. A strip of hotels, restaurants and watersports operators is
located along the narrow cape north of Nusa Dua, Tanjung Benoa (Aston
Bali Resort and Spa and Meliá
Benoa Bali) . And a new area is being developed at Pecatu or
South Nusa Dua, south of Nusa Dua proper. See Nusa
Dua Hotels
Tanjung Benoa Beach
Located north of Nusa Dua, this is a beautiful white sand beach area where visitors can enjoy many types of water recreation and sports such as snorkeling, parasailing, diving, boating, sailing, and more. This area is an extension of Nusa Dua, with easy access to its luxurious hotels and other tourism facilities.
Jimbaran Beach
Located on the isthmus south of Ngurah Rai airport and a continuation of the white sands of Kuta Beach, Jimbaran bay is one of Bali's most recently developed resort area. Tranquil compared to Kuta, it retains much of its fishing village charm. With its shallow water and lack of sharp corals, Jimbaran is ideal for families. The area also remains free from aggressive vendors. See Jimbaran Hotels.
Lovina Beach
LOVINA stretches along 5 km of black-sand beach, the largest resort in Bali outside the Kuta-Legian-Seminyak conurbation. Beginning 6km west of Singaraia, the resort encompasses six villages: Perriaron, Anturan, Tukad Mungga, Kalibukbuk, Kaliasem and Temukus. Kalibukbuk is generally accepted as the centre of Lovina and its here you'll find most tourist facilities. Many people consider the early-morning dolphin trips from Lovina to be the highlight of their stay, but others find them grossly overrated. The reef off Lovina used to stretch at least 5km along the coast, but anchors and fish-bombs have caused severe damage.
The skippers know the best spots for snorkeling. Situated between the main diving areas on the north coast of Bali - Pulau Menjangan (Deer Island) to the west, and Talamben and Amed to the east - Lovina is a good place to base you for diving. One popular outing from Lovina is to Bali's only Buddhist monastery, the Brahma Vihara Ashrama, 10 km southwest of Lovina, which can be combined with a visit to the hot springs at Banjar. Catch any westbound betuo to DENCARlK, where a sign points inland to the monastery, and ojek wait to take you the last steep 5km. Nugraha Lovina Resort offers
