    Temples In Denpasar

    Pura Tanah Lot

    Pura Tanah Lot Dramatically marooned on a craggy, wave-lashed rock sitting just off the coast about 30km northwest of Kuta-Legian, Pura Tanah Lot really does deserve its reputation as one of Bali's top sights. Fringed by frothing white surf and glistening black sand, its elegant multi-tiered shrines have become the unofficial symbol of Bali, appearing on a vast range of tourist souvenirs. Unsurprisingly, the temple attracts huge crowds every day, particularly around sunset.


    Temples In Gianyar

    Pura Penataran Sasih
    Balinese people believe Pura Penataran Sasih (donation required, including sarong and sash rental), in the village of Pejeng, to be a particularly sacred temple, because this is the home of the so-called Moon of Pejeng - hence the English epithet, Moon Temple. The moon in question is a large hourglass-shaped bronze gong that probably dates from the Balinese Bronze Age (3rd century BC), and at almost 2m long is thought to be the largest such kettledrum ever cast.

    Mangening Temple
    A Lingga yoni and prehistoric artifacts are preserved here. The temple ground keeps many ancient heirlooms such as the Lingga Yoni, statue and the weather beaten remains of a door.     Brahma Lelare

    Pegulingan Temple
    Noted for its unusual large stupa set on an octagonal base. Because of the fineness of the carving, sculpture, and artwork produced in this village, it has had a good reputation for a long time. Mas is very easy to find since it is along the main tourist route that traverses Bali . Throughout the region, numerous art shops have developed as showrooms for local artists. Not only can you see the finished product, but you can actually observe the artisans at their work. To the northwest one can find another, called Pura Kebo Edan, or the Mad Buffalo Temple . Still other historical sites can be visited in the area of Gianyar, including Pura Mengening which houses many Lingga and Yoni, and the remains of numerous antiquities which lie in ruin. Pegulingan Temple is also a part of this complex and is noted for unusual large Stupa set on an octagonal base. In addition, Goa Garba and the Rock Temple of Tegallinggah are among hundreds of shrines and sacred springs to be seen in this area.

    Singa Ambara Raja Monument
    The statue of a winged-lion located in the center of Singaraja. This monument represents a winged lion holding a corncob in one of its feet.     The Pura Dalem Complex of Jagaraga

    A unique temple of the dead whose humorous relief of western inspired themes such as dog fights, beer parties, armed robberies may attract many tourists. Like any Pura Dalem temple (the temple of the dead) in Bali , the pura Dalem of Jagaraga is located in the vacantly of a cemetery. Everything a bout this temple is quiet and withdrawn.     Beji Temple

Here, one of the most ancient of Bali 's temples contains the remains of carvings from the earliest Buddhist period. From Penulisan the road continues towards Buleleng and Kubutambahan.

    Madwe Karang Temple
    It is well-known Temple area in Bali . Maduwe Karang has been visited by tourists since before the Second World War. It is divided into three courtyards, or levels. Jaba Pura, the outer court is approached by two steps which are adorned with a series of thirty-four statues, representing the various characters from the Ramayana epic. The middle court, Jaba Tengah, and Jeroan, or interior court, are further on. The interior courtyard is considered the most sacred place, and situated here is statue of Kumbakarna being overwhelmed by a troop of monkey soldiers led by Sugriwa.

    Brahmavihara - Arama
    The biggest Budhist Monastery in Bali . Brahmavihara Arama or commonly called Wihara Buddha Banjar is the biggest Buddhist temple in Bali . Situated in the hills of the Banjar Tegeha village in the district of Banjar, it blends beautifully with the peaceful environment. This Buddhist temple consists of five complexes:

    Uposatha Gara

    This hall is situated at the western top a comfortable and peaceful hall. On its wall the birth of the Buddha has been sculpted while a statue Buddha attaining Nirwana a heaven stands in the center of the hall. In this hall monk are ordained Dharmasala. A lecture hall is situated in the eastern wing. Here priests give sermons. It also serves as a place for other spiritual activities.

    Stupa
    A building with a bell shaped roof lying on south western. The walls are mode of concrete with beautiful relief.
    Close to the north western corner of the building grows a gigantic body tree. Beautifully carved relies are around the tree. This tree symbolizes the victory of Buddha when attaining the eternal perfection or Samia Sang Buddha.

    Kuti

    Kuti is the having quarters of the monks and the student monks. This also serves as the practice hall for the monks. Statues of Buddha decorate every part of the gardens and halls. The most beautiful being the Parinirwana and the statue of Buddha attaining sama or moksa in the Hindu religion. Sama or Moksa means the final earth exit.

    Makam Jayaprana
    According to Balinese legend, Jayaprana was an orphan raised by the rulers of Kalianget village.
